Ici, on voit l'horizon

Centre d'artistes Vaste et vague, Carleton-sur-Mer, Qc.
June 13, 2009 (approximately 1 hour)

This projected-drawing performance took place in a theatre, as part of a residency. The piece was inspired by a dream about finding treasures, and then interwove actual remnants found in nature. Through live drawing and shadow-gestures a transforming tableau depicted women approaching from the distance, carrying large bundles of objects they had collected. The floor of the stage was covered in "zostere" (sea grass) that I had collected from the beach, which infused the theatre with the smell of the sea. The piece was accompanied by live accordion music by Murielle.

Materials: overhead projector, china marker on acetate, found objects (seaweed, feathers, glass…), sea grass
