They have nothing. So kick them out!

Loft in Montreal, March 6, 2004.

This performance took place in response to having to move out of a loft, due to a complicated battle with a landlord. I performed a closing ritual in the empty space; even the electricity and plumbing had been removed. I sat on the floor and washed my hands over and over for about an hour, and then drew a very physical, gestural drawing on the wall using a large burnt stick. For me this image represented an immense violence.

Materials: soap, bowl of water, burnt charcoal stick.
